Hardwood flooring is an investment & has a long life expectancy. So whether you already have timber flooring in your home, or are considering it for your interior, it is important to bear in mind the maintenance involved in owning hardwood floors. Together with Chaunceys approved suppliers Saicos & Vileda, we have created a simple collection of maintenance products for your floors to ensure they live a long, protected life.
Preventative Maintenance
Regularly sweep and vacuum the floor. Install barrier mats such as coir matting inside and outside all external doorways. Wipe up any spilled liquids with a wet damp cloth as wood will absorb liquid and expand which could affect the stability of the floor. Avoid use of any household cleaners. These can be abrasive and damage or dull the surface and can leave a dangerous slippery film. Your wood needs the right environment: ideally, a room temperature between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius and around 40-65% relative air humidity. Stick felt pads under the legs of all furniture. Lift and avoid dragging when moving the furniture.
Essential Maintenance
Chaunceys Wash Care is an everyday environmentally friendly & PH neutral floor cleaning system for all types of interior wooden floors. Wash care will freshen up the floor surface whilst also making it dirt repellent. Just add to water (approx. 3 caps per 5 litres of water). Wring out cloth and mop as usual. If necessary wipe again with dry cloth.
Restore Maintenance (Oiled Surfaces)
Wax care is a proprietary (containing oils) cleaner used for maintaining oiled floors. This cleaner works to maintain your oiled floors by restoring the oils in the timber. Wax care will prolong the life of your finish. The more frequently you use it the better; wax care can also be used for spot treating damaged areas. To use, apply Chaunceys Wax Care on dust-cleaned floor and rub evenly with a cloth – let dry and polish with a cloth. Be sure to do this approx. every three months or as required – in very high traffic areas this could be required monthly or even weekly. In larger areas. Wax care can be applied with a slowly rotating buffing machine.
Restore Maintenance (Lacquered Surfaces)
Refresher care is a cleaner used for maintaining lacquered floors. This cleaner works to maintain your lacquered floors. Refresher will prolong the life of your finish. The more frequently you use it the better; Refresher can also be used for spot treating damaged areas. To use, apply Chaunceys Refresher on dust-cleaned floor and rub evenly with a cloth – let dry and polish with a cloth. Refresh Maintenance
Chaunceys Magic Cleaner is a heavy duty cleaner for worn surfaces that need re-treating with either wax poliwsh or a fresh coat of hardwax oil. Magic Cleaner can be used for intensive cleaning of all waxed, oiled or lacquered surfaces. This bleach free cleaner removes nicotine, grease & dirt films that often occur in bathroom & kitchens. For removal of persistent stains, spray a small quantity of Chaunceys Magic Cleaner on your floor and leave for 5-10 minutes then wash off with clean water. Be careful that you do not use steel wool, micro fibre or any other abrasive cleaner.
Refinishing Your Floor
